About
Soil Link

Our Story

We conceptualised a national database aimed at facilitating the sustainable reuse of soils and aggregates because we were aware of the increasing pressure on the construction sector to reduce the volume of CD&E waste to landfill and the reliance on primary aggregates.

Huge strides forward have been made to raise awareness of the environmental impact of the sector prompting a reaction from the industry to advance engineering practices, mechanical tools, technical and legislative advancements.

Despite all of the positives, the fractured nature of the construction industry makes it very difficult to actually make the donor and receptor sites link owing to a lack of awareness of the options available.

In early 2022, a small team was compiled to conduct research, engage with the construction market, and run pilot schemes which revealed a significant demand for a tool that promotes circular economy and cost savings.

With the concept validated, the team progressed with developing the software (SaaS) for the Material Exchange Platform (MEP). Soil Link stands out as the only SaaS platform available in the UK, empowering users to view materials not just as waste, but as valuable resources. As we look ahead to 2024 and beyond, we are eager to witness the positive impact of Soil Link on the construction industry.
